How long will my Photo Session last?

For family sessions we like to allow between 1 and 2 hours but really it depends on where the session is taking place and whether we plan to do any activities like dog walking, cycling, kite flying or baking and so on. We like to spend 15 or 20 minutes just chatting and getting to know you as a family and giving you a chance to get to know us. This helps create relaxed natural photos. We may need to setup some equipment or studio lighting if you prefer the studio look. Once we start taking shots we wont stop until we have taken a good selection.

What do I get?

Once you have had your Photo Session you have the option to buy your images as standard resolution digital files on a CD and/or in print form as a Canvas, Acrylics etc...

See our Printed Products page below for more detail.

Note: When you buy a digital image option you get licence to copy, print and share your digital images as often as you wish. This is, however, a non-commercial licence so you are non permitted to sell the images or use for business or commercial purposes without written permission. If you wish to book a corporate booking please state this at time of enquiry.

What format are the Digital Images?
The digital images are provided as JPEGs on a CD or DVD.

What Resolution are the Digital Images?
We offer 2 levels of resolution. We call these Standard and High.

Standard Resolution are no bigger than 1050 pixels on either side. They are great for uploading to web sites, digital photo frames and printing up to 5”x7” and will give you a very reasonable print, particularly if you use an over the counter printing service. You can print them larger but the quality reduces with size. If you want to buy a better resolution you can do that with our High Resolution option.

You can choose to upgrade your digital images to ‘High Resolution’ files - which can be up to 4288 pixels in size depending on whether the image has been cropped or not. This resolution stores more detail on images giving much better quality when printing. Especially when printing enlargements, canvases or acrylics or if you want to build a high quality Album.

The table below is a useful guide when thinking about Resolution.

How should I prepare for the Photo Session?
We like families to feel relaxed in heir own home so please just be yourself. Very few of us live in a show home, especially if you have little ones crawling or running around. Chaos rules! However we do get asked this question a lot and here are some things that can help make the session run more smoothly and give better results.

When photographing indoors we prefer to use rooms with more natural light and space, other favourites are the kitchen, garden and bedroom, it is up to you which rooms we use so don’t panic although we can help with choosing based on our experience.

Have a quick tidy up, we dont want a stray sock, wonky picture or messy wires in the background of a great shot, although don’t worry too much as we tend to focus on you and your family so background objects are usually blurred out of focus or cropped. We tend to crawl around on the floor particularly when pets or children are involved, this helps us get into their world so if you can make space that would be good.

If baby has a favourite blanket or if you have some favourite hobbies, activities, toys or games or a certain trick the dog does have a think about preparing some of those things to save time on the day.

Sounds obvious, but clean hands, nails and faces are best as we’ll probably be getting some close-ups, it’s useful to keep face wipes or tissues handy. Wash hair and have brushes or combs at the ready too, don’t forget your own hair - or the dogs !

With clothes, VERY IMPORTANT - please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Smiley relaxed faces are what we want. Choose something that will stand the test of time, not something that will be out of fashion next year. Jeans and cotton t-shirts, casual clothes are most popular. Colour works well but avoid too many colours and clashing in group shots, Avoid complex patterns as this will make for a busy picture, although textures (woolly jumpers in winter) can sometimes work really well. It is usually a good idea to have a few spare clothes handy if needed, this can help create a more varied set of photographs.

Try to think about the types of picture you have seen before that you like, think about who you want photographed with who. We’ll help out with ideas here.

How long will it take for me to see my finished Photos?

We try to turn around every session as quickly as possible as we know you will be excited to see the results. We can usually get your images up on the password protected gallery within a week but it depends on how busy we are and so for that reason we say within 2 weeks.

If you wish to order any of our Canvases, Acrylics or other printed products these usually take 2 weeks from date of order to be delivered back to our office, we can then arrange a convenient time for you to collect or for us to deliver to your door.

Do you cover evenings & weekends?
We can offer evening and weekend shoots, the more notice we have the better as weekends tend to be popular. We are happy to work around your typical day, feeding, tap & gym classes, sleeping and so on but we prefer to use natural light with lifestyle portraits so keep that in mind particularly in the Winter months.

What happens if we need to Cancel and/or Reschedule?
Life is full of surprises and so if you need to reschedule that is no problem subject to availability, please give as much notice as possible. If you wish to cancel your photo session altogether then unfortunately you will lose your session booking fee.

How do I pay?
Your booking is not secured until your Photo Session payment has been received (typically with paypal, cash or bank transfer). Then we have the Photo Session, process photos and upload proof to your online Gallery. Once you have chosen a package and printed products you can pay using paypal, credit cards (via paypal), cash or bank transfer.

Can I choose which Photographer takes my Pictures?
If you have a preference please let us know, we tend to share the Photography jobs and often assist each other.
