The Photographer:
Ken Dimmer gave up full time teaching in 2004 to pursue his lifetime interest in photography. He had taught in Hampshire for over 30 years and was Manager of Learning, with responsibility for Special Needs in a comprehensive school, before resigning and launching his new career.
Ken is a keen sportsman and enjoys exploring new places, in particular coastal scenery and mountain landscapes. His photographs capture the local area, particularly at sunset, but the photographic business has given him the excuse for more adventures in other parts of the World.
Whilst he uses modern technology to take the image (SLR Digital), he has decided to hold firm to the principle that the skill and satisfaction is in taking a pleasing image, which is not going to be enhanced using the latest software package. Therefore the images you see have in no way been altered or 'improved' on the computer.
He has a studio in Bosham Walk, a craft centre in Bosham, West Sussex (near Chichester), where a wide selection of framed, unframed and canvas prints are on display. Canvas images can be printed to A1 and larger if required and it is also possible to have prints on acrylic, which adds a new dimension to a photograph.
Since arriving in Bosham in February 2004 his photographs have been sent all over the World, (USA, Paraguay, Australia and New Zealand to name but a few).
In 2006 he had his first photograph displayed in the magazine 'Professional Photographer'.
Ken is 'managed' by his wife, Barbara, who is the organiser and walking diary. Barbara was a Teacher of the Deaf and Head of a Hearing Impaired Unit in a Hampshire Junior School. When she is not making cards for the business she is either coaching gymnastics or submerged in paperwork as secretary of Fareham School of Gymnastics. Ken also coaches and surprise, surprise their daughter is Head Coach.
They also have a son who works in the travel industry in London. He can be useful at times!!
