"...It's amazing what you see when you're out and about..."
I love taking photographs of random things. When on holiday or just on a leisurely walk, I'll often take my camera with me - if just to capture our 2 dogs messing about, but it's amazing what you see when you really look. Beaches are awash (literally) with photo opportunities. if I go walking with my wife I'll often get left behind as I start pointing my camera at patterns in the sand caused by footprints, waves or "junk" washed up by the sea.
At the moment I've got this thing about electricity pylons. I actually hate them. My house is surrounded by them. It's like some kind of pylon convention. They go in all different directions and because of this theyre all different sizes. I can even see the tops of the 2 massive ones that span the estury at Grangemouth some 10 miles away!
Despite this I cant help being fascinated by the way they look. Yes they're huge and ugly and seem to stride over the landscape like some kind of under nourished invading metal army and I'd love if they all vanished underground - but that's not likely to happen any time soon so until then I try and look at them differently.
Take a look in the Gallery and "view and buy" section and you'll see what I mean. You'll also see a range of other photographs I've taken.
I'm also a great fan of a good sunrise and sunset. I'm fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful scenery and despite the pylon convention going on in the background, I'm still stunned by some of the colours and shapes the sun and clouds can produce - especially on a freezing winters morning when the air is so cold you can feel ice forming on your eyebrows.
Recent developments in my area mean we're likely to get additional pylons joining our little convention with planning permission being granted for the controversial Beauley to Denny line, however rumour has it that when this line goes up, the one obscuring my sunrise will be removed. So (for me at least) every cloud has a silver lining - better than a power cable anyway.
