T.J. Johnson - Bio

Hi guys! My name is T.J  Johnson and I am the owner, and main photographer at Bastrop Photography. I moved to the Bastrop area in the fall of 2017 after Hurricane Harvey destroyed my home and all of my personal belongings. In the wake of such a heart-breaking disaster, I discovered that material things had little meaning, but the most devastating loss to me was my photographs. Those pictures represented a lifetime of memories for me. They were the story of my life;  I was going to pass down to the next generation, and they to the next. Just as my mother had passed hers down to me. The only images I was able to salvage were the ones stored on the cloud, on my facebook and on DVD's and that was such a blessing! I realized the true significance of those images and how precious they were to me. As a photographer, that makes me want to help you capture those precious moments in your life, even more.

I am a mother of 8, I have 2 birth children, 2 step-children and 4 adopted children. I guess you could say..."I love kids!" I have 2 beautiful grandsons and a brand-new gorgeous granddaughter and another baby on the way! Family is hugely important to me. I guess, for me,  you could say it is the knee then the tree!  I have over 30 years of photography, casting, film, and modeling industry experience. I was an agent for Primo International Artist Agency representing models and actors, and later a casting director for Johnson Casting. I started out in the film industry in 1992 doing production stills, and things just progressed from there. Therefore, I have a real behind-the-scenes knowledge of an agent and casting directors expectations. I love taking the artistic creativity of a professional modeling shoot and using that same flair when shooting family portraits, senior portraits, weddings, etc.  think my artistic flair really sets me apart.  I am also the previous owner of 50mg Photography Studios in Houston. I retired, as an agent, in 2009 and here I am again...doing what I love!

"My goal is to be your "personal" photographer; to help you capture the moments in your life that will define who you were, who you are, and who you will become. " Please feel free to Email Me or give me a call at (512) 718-3068

I look forward to shooting you!
Sincerely,
T.J. Johnson

My favorite photography quotes:

  • “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
    — Aaron Siskind
  •
  • “We are making photographs to understand what our lives mean to us.”
    — Ralph Hattersley
  •
  • “A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.”
    — Annie Leibovitz
