Welcome to my webpage all about trolleybuses.  As an enthusiast of public transport, I am glad to introduce a new generation to these vehicles, given that the last system in the UK closed in 1972

Trolleybuses, also once known as trackless or railless, are a fascinating mode of transportation that combines the best of buses and trams. Unlike traditional buses, trolleybuses draw their power from overhead electric wires, making them efficient and environmentally friendly. Citizens of Chicago tried to stop their withdrawal on this basis, some, including myself believe that had they lasted longer, they might still be operating in the UK today, as most were withdrawn during the 60's, the era of freedom of the open road, and the mobility of the motor car.

On this webpage, I'll take you on a journey through the history of trolleybuses, from their early beginnings in the late 19th century to the modern and advanced designs of today. I'll explore the cities and regions where trolleybuses are prevalent, showcasing how they have become an integral part of the public transit system in many places around the world.

Discover the benefits of trolleybuses, from reducing air pollution and carbon emissions to promoting sustainable urban development. I'll delve into the technology behind these vehicles, explaining how they operate, recharge, and navigate the city streets efficiently.

I'll also share captivating images and videos, showcasing trolleybuses in action. From their smooth gliding through bustling urban centers to their scenic routes through picturesque landscapes, you'll witness their charm firsthand.

Are you curious about the future of trolleybuses? I certainly am! I'll delve into ongoing research and innovations, exploring how these vehicles continue to evolve and adapt to the changing demands of our cities and societies.

If you're a fellow transportation enthusiast or someone interested in sustainable urban planning, this webpage is the perfect place to quench your thirst for knowledge about trolleybuses. Together, let's celebrate these remarkable vehicles that have been quietly shaping our cities for over a century, and discover why they remain a symbol of efficient and eco-friendly public transportation.

So, hop on board, and let's explore the electrifying world of trolleybuses together.
