Which is why I don't take commissions to shoot weddings......
Let me explain... There are some fantastic wedding photographers that are wholly dedicated to telling the story of your wedding through fantastic reportage style image capture all of whom have developed a particular style that will have inevitably drawn you to them to provide the album images you want to mark this special day in your lives. I simply put can't compete with thier clear ability to give you this precious record of your day - so I don't!
However once they have been shooting for the best part of 6-8 hours all the way to the cake cutting & first dance they are ready to head off for a well earned glass of something strong at the bar in the full knowledge that they have the images in the bag and 3-5 days of editing ahead to give you the final polished album. This is where I add an extra dimension to your family gathering - quite rightly the album photographer has concentrated on the bride and groom with a few well aimed and essential group shots.
Whilst everyone has of course brought their cameras/phones and trigger finger at the ready mostly the results are well, to be kind, snapshots from the side or over someones head or too dark /bright or nearly in focus. This is where I come in. I will set up a studio or lights in a great location in the venue and capture all those family and friends images to a professional standard and even print them on site on the night for your guests delight.
My skill is being able to deal with your guests as they start to relax and let their hair down and build the confidence to ask me to capture those key images of loved ones that may not have got together for years and of course they deserve great photography as they are dressed up to the nines too!! (I guess 25 years hospitality experienced helps me keep it fun and relaxed!).
As my digital workflow is set up to print on site at the venue I can instantly add an extra dimension to your special day, particularly for your guests - leaving the professional photographer commissioned for the ceremony and bridal album portraits to deliver the carefully crafted gallery & album compilation anticipated.
Of course the current fashion is for photobooths as an additional piece of theatre alongside merry-go-rounds, ice cream vendors, table magicians - any or all of which may fit the bill for the style of your family event - but my service alongside the formal wedding album shoot will provide the lasting memories that you and your family & guests will return to - time and time again.
