Hammonds Photography Studio was established in Chelmsford in June 2010 with a simple vision: to create a welcoming, family-friendly studio where beautiful portraits could be created around the demands of busy family life.
Since opening, we have had the privilege of photographing more than 11,750 families; from tiny newborns and growing children to much-loved pets and family groups of up to 30 people.
Our talented team is passionate about creating natural, meaningful portraits that capture the personalities and connections within each family. These are more than photographs; they are lasting pieces of art, carefully created to complement your home and be treasured for generations.
We understand how much thought and planning can go into arranging a family photoshoot, whether it involves a family of three or a gathering of 30. That is why we make every part of the experience relaxed, enjoyable and thoughtfully tailored to you.
We are incredibly proud of our large returning customer base. Many families first visit us with a newborn or young child and return throughout the years as their family grows. It is one of the loveliest parts of our work to see babies we once photographed returning as older children—and sometimes even bringing along a new sibling.

From the moment you arrive at our Chelmsford studio, our friendly team will help you feel comfortable and completely at ease. We want your experience to be relaxed, enjoyable and filled with plenty of fun.
One of our talented photographers will welcome you and take time to get to know your family before beginning the session. They will gently guide you throughout while encouraging natural interactions, genuine expressions and those spontaneous moments that truly reflect your family.
Every family is wonderfully different, which is why no two sessions are ever the same. Your photoshoot will be tailored around your family’s personalities, relationships and individual style, creating authentic portraits that feel completely personal to you.
Once your photoshoot is finished, there is no need to arrange another day to return. While our team carefully prepares your photographs, you can relax in our comfortable reception area.
Your images will then be presented in our private cinema-style viewing suite, allowing you to enjoy them for the first time on the big screen. Your photographer will be there to help you select your favourites and explore the most beautiful ways to display them in your home.
We keep the entire experience family-friendly. Toys are available to keep younger children entertained, and you are very welcome to bring drinks, snacks or anything else that helps your family feel comfortable.
