This a list of website that I look at or use on a regular basis. It is not comprehensive and there are probably many equally good sites of which I am blissfully unaware.
GreenTours: I have been travelling with Ian Green and his company since 1994 and they have taken me to some wonderful places and shown me some wonderful things (although I have found one or two myself...). Depending on how you count the trips, do three one week trips in Turkey combined into one count as one or three? I have been on close to 50 Greentours trips so they must be doing something right! A few of my pictures appear in their brochure and website.
MarLin: A must for any one with an interest in marine life from around the UK. Like most of the websites more geared up for divers rather than those shore based but a good first point of call and if you have any interest at all in recording marine life then sign up to do so! Beware the recording page can be a little cumbersome to use and you must know exactly how many species you are going to enter in a session. Has a gallery and picture of a large number of marine species
My
An Illustrated Natural History of Social Isolation hosted by Alan King - a four month diary of the first Covid lockdown in the UK looking at the wildlife (mainly insects) that I found during that time,
Andy Rouse: His short TV series was certainly inspiring as are his books and although I don't like all of his images overall they are pretty darn good!
Anton Gorlin Photography: Australian Landscape and Real Estate Photographer – Anton Gorlin is a landscape and a real estate photographer working in Sydney, NSW, and Australia. He provides online editing lessons, in-field seascape workshops.
Jeremy Early's book and photographs "My side of the Fence". A really good book and images from a Surrey garden, especially the insect photography. Highly recommended.
And for identification and recording what you see I can recommend
iNaturalist (and my blog on the site - started August 2024). I have found the site to be really good for some insect groups but not so good for others.
